In 2009 Sketchbook with be published bi-monthly: February, April, June, August, October, and December.  The publication date for each issue is the last day of the month.  Submissions are due on the 20th of the month of publication.

The January / February 28, 2009 Kukai theme is "hazy moon":  Read all the "hazy moon" haiku entered in the kukai34 poets from 9 countries wrote 81 haiku.

Featured this month is the fourth installment of Eiko Yachimoto's Hisajo in the Light of English Haikai Movement: Chapter 3: Kyoshi and the Irony of Shiki’s Modern Haiku Movement.

Vaughn Seward has selected 14 Renhai for the February 2009 issue including 9 two-way collaborative poems with 5 different writers, 1 three-way renhai, and 4 solo renhai.  Be sure to read the notes link at the bottom of each selection; the notes contain interesting ideas about the rehnai links and various modes of composing a renhai.

Rengay Through The Seasons by Vaughn Seward featuring rengay numbers nineteen through 26 of the year long rengay project hosts guest writer Toshiaki Koike and Jon Davey: Mid-winter rengay, Late-winter rengay.

Contributing Editor, Jeff Spahr-Summers, creator and editor of Poetry Victims, treats February readers to a revised site with collaborative Art by Amy Kohut and ZZbaggins and poetry from Robert King.
