Tanka

chunks of white coral, left
on the horse ridden trail
marking the path...
lost in the dark
bits of flotsam guide me home

ah! the brightness
of the night moon
transcends...
color's of the flowers
return in morning light

the heaviness
of the Datura blossom!
face forward
she falls into the
flower, smiling

heat waves
of the high desert
fill the air you breath
escape into the shady place
your mind

I see
said the blind man
who feels...
in colors only he knows
and sings your being

I see
said the blind man
who feels...
in colors only he knows
and sings your being

Kyoka

what would the
old ones say
if they saw me eating
three finger poi
with a fork

gatherings

morning coffee
warms the air
around me
peace pipe full
mind overflows
gathering words
peculiar song
in the forest
bees humming a chorus
red Lehua blossoms
for Madam Pele
yellow for her
mystery and magik
only the trees
and the airplants bloom
drought steals the gardenias
and tiny purple blossoms
that dance in the wind
birds come close
to tell me
birdbath
has no sky in it
rain dance brings only
dust clouds..
and drops of sweat...
auweeee!!!!
