New Years Haiku Festival

Marija Pogorilić CR

New Year morning
a firecracker jumps
over the fence

the first dawn

a rooster crowing
repeatedly

New Year's Eve
our neighbours
at the front door

in the middle of
New Year's Eve

a crying infant

Wishing you all the very best in 2012

Jane & Werner Reichhold, US

light enters the ocean and arches back up
in the colors of a circle partially hidden or
a tree that bends down sweeping and swaying
luminous leaves of red, green, yellow, and purple
that drizzle patches of splendor upon the scene
since it is already in the playground
of my mind as swings and slides
the glory of broken rays and music
that hasn’t yet been on fingers*

coming forward
the year in the mirror
takes on a face

the weight of night releases itself
shy, migratory, artless

a morning of no spider juice
running on overtime – five thirty

east still carries a horizontal
red wound left from a fading fog bank

acceptance of her smile when we slice
into the crust of our breakfast bread

the expression on her teeth signals
a certain white like corn home in rows

our window front, Dutch screened
adjoining a spin of minds, axis to axis**
