A Tanka  and Haiku Sequence

Summer Bouquet for Deborhanne

 

like the north star
guiding with precision—
a beacon,
you fan our hidden fires
to burn with perfection
 
who's roses are these?
so artfully sculpted
on the page

red roses
for your passions—
rainbow bright

 joyful cries
filling the room
yellow roses

a black rose
for sadness and loss
June darkness

 beware!
thorns among green leaves
on summer nights

in a cool breeze!
oh—the scent of roses
mingled with smiles
   

leading all
with your caring difference
a rainbow
bursting through the dark clouds
and sudden monsoon rains
