Under the 18th Street Bridge
beer bottles, crinkled-crushed cans, and burger
nest among the tangled driftwood.
Grey goose droppings litter the path.
Nettled thistles, orphaned needles, and shopping
cloister between jagged, ragged rocks.
Splintered, past pilings rise above the stream.
Flittered flutters, chipped chirps, and swallow
team amid the graffiti splattered beams.
Mated mallards glide through the muddy water.
Clinketies, clumpetyies, and thumpetty-thumps
dash, pass across the concrete overhead.
I shed my clothes and shiver.
