Auntie’s Dark Closet

the punishing place
don’t talk back she’ll put you there
the iceman is coming
you’re in the closet again
you took a wrong turn
walking home from kindergarten
yup, the closet.
Then one day it wasn’t scary
anymore
you could smell mother’s perfume
remembering Mother’s smile
her warmth, her hugs
and most of all her love
seeing the ballet with her
falling asleep in her arms
the closet became the best
hidey hole, sanctorum
when hell broke loose
and it did in that family
you could hide there
they never looked in the
place for bad little girls
you talked to your angels
snuggled into mother’s
coat with her fragrance
was like falling asleep in her arms
Sanctum Sanctorum

Bluebeard smirking, walks away

on the walk

who knew that morning
when you left
naughtily kissing me goodbye
it was our last shared laugh

suits I never wanted to see
at the door in the afternoon

Validated

seeking validation in the passion
reflected in her eyes
reveling in the firmness of her breasts
the pliancy of her thighs

sunrise found him alone
re-evaluating his loneliness
validating his emptiness

Warrior Wisdom

The old guard hung on
to their posts
as heads were displayed on spears
The great Celt's skull pickled in a jar
commanded center table

They sought wisdom from the warrior
knowing in true Celt wisdom
although he was preserved and pickled
he could still impart his winning strategies
as they drank the wine from the ja
