Darkness
I can hear
Sand singing on slopes
Across the bay a lamp is lit
I
Did
Not ask
Who lit it
Nor did I reply
When perhaps no one was still there
The
Night
Is dark
And rainy
But warm soft light glows
Through windows to welcome me home

Now free from the work of the day
One sees most by candlelight
When one sees so little
We are for the dark

Happy
Thanksgiving

Above is a scan of
Thanksgiving post card to convey my thanks to my two
Sketchbook editors. The original was mailed from
Metheun, Mass. to Cedar Breaks, Nebraska, dated
11-24-09… that is 1909! One hundred years ago. Cool, eh?
Today, of course, is
November
22… 46 years ago! Gosh. It turns out that for
several years now, over half the country was born after
1963. Weird, huh.
