Whitney—A Seven Line Form

The Whitney form was created by Betty Ann Whitney, poet and editor; she now lives in Wesley Chapel, Florida. The Whitney, a syllabic form, contains seven lines and 28 syllables; the syllable pattern is 3 4 3 4 3 4 7. "In the Garden Year", published in Sol Magazine, is an example composed by the author.

In the Garden Year

Voted best
Among the months
May and June
Sprout root and grow.
Soon will dance
On wiry stems
A blend of upturned blossoms.
