Free Verse   Heroes Heartbreakers   Those Sterling Knights in Shining Armor somewhere along my line of disappointment and heartbreak it occurred to me that Heroes are only statues men with feet of clay see those clay feet hollow with some debris cigarette butts, roaches smashed beer cans broken hearts the litter of their lives I'll trade em all for an ordinary guy with integrity humor intelligence and the capacity and ability to love himself and me     Untitled   Standing on the beach Barefoot in the warm sand Watching the waves Feeling the siren beauty of the sea And the confusion of my world Diving into the waters of truth Finding the dividing line between Blue reef dreams and cool Deep blue water reality     Mother's Day   she awoke with a glow the great mystery had finally happened there is life growing inside her too soon for a doctor to tell not too soon for every cell of her being to know Happy Mother's Day keep it a secret until we're sure carry full term this time forty weeks morning sickness strange cravings high energy no energy anticipation flutters kicks a girl a boy a Huckleberry Finn Kid a Beribboned princess no amniocentesis Surprise it's a boy No surprise here we had talked for forty weeks my Huckleberry Finn Kid and I Happy Mother's Day       silly window   They said it was A window of opportunity hmmm does it have glass in it and a screen? Is it an old double hung or a modern slider single or dual pane can I open by myself? Do you open it, remove the screen and simply step through? If you snag your pants or the heel of your shoe and trip do you land in the field of possibilities? and landing in the field of possibilities do you get dirt on your shoes and grass stains on your pants do you hate it when the security guards escort you out cause you dont have a back stage pass     another day   the aroma of coffee brewin a neighbor's dog barks bicyclists on the bay path and the chonk of the paper as it hits the door windows are open and the land breeze brings its cool morning greeting another day in paradise wherever I am another day to dance and love and laugh at it all
