Festive Summer
Cool, delicate
breezes whispered gently
As precious, white butterflies, intoxicated
By the warm, scintillating breeze, floated
Deliciously and precariously in the soft,
Silky, summer sun of the glistening prairie!
Summertime chimed, while tender, silent
Clouds swayed majestically, voluptuously
To the rippling, melodious murmur of
The suave, soothing brooks and streams!
De Profundis
Callous, cold,
contorted clouds
Of conniving gloom hover hysterically
Over a hideous, hueless horizon, haunting
Our weary world with wretched woes!
In the crimson conflagration of terror,
Torment, torture, wanton destruction
And death, the yawning, black abyss
Of despair opens upon stunted, segregated
Dreams, hapless expectations, in the sinuous,
Murky, constricted cracks of squalid humanity!
We hear cocked, loaded guns booming furiously,
From East to West and from North to South,
On the smouldering dunghill of dismal,
Desecrated desires locked in the tantalizing
Reality of disillusioned innocence lost in
The horrendous whims of lingering tragedies!
Warped images of tainted purity, beguiled
And betrayed, billow, as sullen, calculating
Children caper with crimpled conscience
And castrated future in the caustic cauldron
Of colossal carnage! But a faint, tiny voice from
Deep within the bruised brotherhood of mankind,
Whispers wholesome words of love and peace,
Even as the feeble, frail, forsaken flame of Faith
Flickers feverishly in our very darkest hour!
