the final draft was done up at Fay's in Manhattan the first
ten days of September 2001...
spent each morning at the books store on the WTC
square...coffee,
bagel, etc.
on September 10, 2001 I went into the WTC tower closest to
the Hudson (Tower No. 1 ?) at about 10 am...
I was going to take the elevator up to the top but they
wanted $18 which I didn't have...figured I'd come back with
the $$ next morning and ride up...
when I got back to Fay's (on Vestry next to the Hudson,
about ten blocks from the WTC towers) as
we had a
final draft ready of the book...she said: "I'm tired of you.
Go
home!"
so I drove back to Takoma Park (Maryland) about 6 pm...
next morning
when I got up watching the tv seeing the towers smoking and
the "dots" (people) going down and etc.. 9/11/2001
Fay saved my ass!
all the subsequent film of this event as far as I know has
edited out the "dots"
