Whitney*
The Pearl
Lost again,
a grain of sand
I can feel
myself rolling
with the waves
until I find
mother of pearl in the sea.
Return
White lilacs
in the summer
bring me back—
the moonless nights
in blackness,
when their sweet scent
crept through my open window.
