A Spring Nujuin Renku
One Petal Falls
march wind--
from that dogwood
one petal falls
soap bubbles caught in the sunrays
floating over the fence
sudden smoke
from two blocks away--
house fire
in the clear blue sky
billowing clouds
a quarter moon
plays hide and seek
behind that tree
"don't peek!"--
my daughter's first bra
a dinner for two--
over the coffee cups
eyes meeting eyes
in the conference minutes--
all the "I's dotted with hearts
the metronome swings
hastening the beat
to their love song
knight takes queen--
he doesn't know she let him win
climbing over
the walls of the courtyard
bougainvilleas
first day of school
passing notes under the desk
in the new moon
promises
my future unfolds
fall carnival--
the gypsy speaks only of her past
a maze of colors--
wildflowers
roam the prairie
his famous caricatures
in black and white
snow blind;
caught in my high beams
the smallest skunk
Christmas aromas--
pies baking mixed with pine
scattered
among the needles--
crocus blooms
peeps from the bird's nest
bringing in spring
