GOTHIC POEMS*

The Blackest Gift

Karina Klesko

It is a night of subtlety, a song of sorrow,
wolves vent their cry. The ethereal one
awakes.

Evil shrouds her brooding form,
a brooding desire.

Her ebon hair cascades over
pale and delicate shoulders, and her
full blood red lips part slightly, to taste the
life streaming from the
pale flesh beneath
her.

Now a night of shared vitality,
I thirst.

A Huntress Moon

Trish Shields

It is a night of blood, a song of dark desire,
as the lonely spill their tears to those
who wait. The thirsting
one stirs.

Darkness shrouds her brooding form,
an impatient wanting
arises.

Her midnight hair cascades over
translucent shoulders, her full blood red lips
part slightly, to taste
the air.

Beneath the full red moon they gather,
having chosen willing victims—the danse
macabre begins.

A pirouette, curtsey then promenade; a lone party
dances beneath the moonlight, their reflection shimmers
but for a moment. A cascade of red tears streams from
pale flesh gathered beneath
her smile.

Now a night of ecstasy,
darkness shrouds her
hunger.

The Forest Stalker

John Daleiden

It is a night of sorrow—
In a song of dark desire,
wolves vent their howls.

The thirsting one rises;
Fog shrouds her slinking form,
cloaking her brooding agony.

Her inky black hair cascades over
motionless translucent gray shoulders—
her full deeply crimson lips part slightly—
shreds of bloody flesh stream from the
pale body beneath her stalking hulk.

On this night of famine,
I remember her fierce snarl.

Frenzy

Karina Klesko

what have you ruined?
a haze of chaos as feelings diminish.
once we experienced innocence,
untainted and hand in hand,
but your desire soured.
a furious vision of horror—
drops of blood follow memory, follow hate,
the thirst spoiled.
in a storm of righteousness,
i still love you.
