Haiku
Contest
Deadline: In
hand by October 15, 2010
Guidelines:
Consider your
haiku in light of ones that have stayed with you over time,
ones that continue to be fresh and new. These will
inevitably contain a gap, or leap in consciousness. They may
spring from a personal experience, but, over time, they will
have become significant in a more symbolic, universal way.
As far as themes or subject matter, we favor haiku about
nature and the seasons, but are not creating any strict
guidelines for this contest because we are looking for haiku
that get to the essence of things through juxtaposition.
A good example of what we are looking for is the following
haiku by Dee Evetts. It’s multidimensional. The rhythm of
the haiku is seamless and yet the final image conveys wonder
and discovery.
