Haiku

icicles…
winter’s
sharp bite

one-by-one
leaves flutter earthward―
bare wings of trees

a gift
for the one crushing the leaves―
garden mint

Cinquain

A Hummingbird Flits

Red-throat
hummingbird flits
among the hanging fuchsias―
zooms away. …My son calls to say
hello.

Graveyard Moon

Wrought-iron
gate stretches to
avoid the corpse-pale light
of a graveyard moon calling forth
shadows.

Joggity Jig

Jogging,
feet are pounding,
heart is drumming as I
dance to my own beat while I am
jogging.

Water Lilies

I’m most
envious of
water lilies in bloom,
living productively floating
nowhere.
