Turtles All the
Way Down
A professor from
the local college
speaks to the Senior Center.
He gives a scientifically sound talk
on how the universe was made.
One woman in the back row waves her hand.
"Sonny," she said, "you got it all wrong."
She explains that the world sits on …
a giant turtle!
The scientist asks, with a smug smile,
what the turtle sat on? She triumphs:
"An endless pile of turtles, one on top of another."
Yes, of course!
The next day
she went to the pet shop.
The following day
posted on the bulletin board
a ballot!
