Found Poetry

Catching Fire

Found poetry from the second book of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. The source pages are indicated at the end of each line.

The dawn begins to lighten the woods 3

Light struggles to filter in 64

Little bits of bright sunshine dance before my eyes 62

The woods have always been our place of safety 27

Music filters down from the clouds 79

Transforms them into something new 92

Normal was never a part of it 162

The air’s warm with hopeful hints of spring 167

There’s no going back 5

I don’t have the slightest hope of return 188

Difference between life and death 10

Everything is happening too fast 68

I have lost my grip on everything 179

I have a mission 189

I know where I fit in 7

Wiping all the concerns of the day from my mind 151

Keeping the horror fresh and immediate 4

I can feel my mind begin to race 17

My world veering out of control 30

I trip my terror, push it down 299

Try to put myself back together 306

This time my survival isn’t the goal 299

My dying wish 189

In some halfway land between dreams and waking 260

Beyond worrying about a future 296

Saying good-bye and forgetting them 189

Nothing could be further from the truth 22

Embarrasses, kisses, caresses, a squeeze 188

This all flashes through my head in an instant 28

You have provided a spark 23

What better way to give hope 243

Making a crown of flowers 245

And a mocking jay flying in a circle of gold. 41
