Haiku and Senyru

Travelling down the country on a winter's day recently

ivy hugs
naked trees
sleet day

ragged hedgerows
shredded fields
life in tatters

sheep huddle
under naked trees
bleak day

driving by
devils bit mountain
munching an apple

wind blown meadows
twisted branches
weary day

shafts of light
radiate from clouds
paths of peace

parting clouds
a silver stream
snakes through fields

Haiku and Senyru

A family funeral recently

steam flies
from a factory chimney
news of her death

blinding sunshine
lighting the drive home
her peaceful passing

flooded fields
a copse of pine
reflect in prayer

removal mass
she checks the coffin
for her mother's warmth

removal prayers
girls up and down checking
on their mother

the coffin
carried to the hearse
a bitter day

coffin lowered
her head buried
in my arms

lost in grief
she looks to my mother
for her mother

heartbroken
with grief
our tears touch

eyes stare
through a fog of disbelief
funeral day

grief stricken
six sisters identical
in black

Winter Haiku

icy paths
I walk in his footsteps
confident

blue moon
the village numb
with frost

walking long shadows
under the setting sun
winter dusk

biting winds
twist her frown
into a smile

december night
a silken moon
ripples the lake

bleak winter night
bookmarked by my bed
a world of sunshine

clouds frill
a midnight sky
pearl moon

winter night
the moon and the stars
walk me home

winter evening
a halo of light
circles the moon

biting winter
a citrus sunrise
flames the sky

winter gale
a grove of pine
wheezing

winter dusk
hoping to find you
among the stars

winter noon
the last photo of her
by the christmas tree

foggy day
sheep climb
into the clouds

frosty morning
on the doormat a snail leaves
a gift of silver

after a deluge
a prism of light
in a raindrop

after heavy rain
raindrops on leaves
dancing
