The Croaker's Jug Band

playing most any night
but especially Pau Hana
always by moonlight
Tutu's famous TNT on hand
known through out the land
those long legged skinny boys
enjoy a shot of that juice
helps 'em cut loose
keeps the crowd singing
dancing and laughing
'til early mornin' light

As I Please

I gladly leave my memories sitting alone
Until such whims cast breezes to join them there.
Once we romped and worked together with zest and glee
And now I no longer have any such needs
Except to come and go as I please.

Bernard Gieske, US

In the Garden

In my garden
I rest
after tending to my chores
and flowers
...stirring breeze
and drizzle rain
muzzle the world
and in silence I dream.

In my garden
wicker in white
waits with open arms
for my tired bones
after bending the wire and metal
shaping the weave of twigs
the form of clay
working the design of dreams.

In my garden
overgrown with lichens
no longer waiting
just holding
the stuff of dreams
now memories
on a wicker lounge
in a garden.

Mary Angela Nangini

A Cameo

he courts ladybird
with guitar and wild berry wine

fat flies and succulent mite haves
lure her to his sticky cane
toad tongue
