
In 2011 Vania
Stefanova's haiku won first prize in the Fourth National
haiku contest in Bulgaria.
The competition is organized by Haiku Club – Sofia and
Faculty of Philosophy at South-West University "Neofit
Rilski". This year the competition was held for the fourth
time with the Fifth International Haiku Conference, entitled
"Haiku - overcoming the boundaries". The special guest
speaker was David Lanoue who is very popular in Sofia with
his haiku novels (and especially "Haiku Guy" and "Haiku
Wars") and this was very intriguing. Vania's 10 haiku were
chosen among 720 haiku written in Bulgarian by 72 authors

Of course poetry (and especially haiku) is difficult for
translation from Bulgarian into English, but behold, here I
try with my number one:
