Tribute
Proudly standing
in the pouring rain
I thought about you time and again
Oh, how you would love to be here
To see your children, and I shed a tear
For we have moved on and left you behind
We will never forget the men of your kind
The poppy wreathes we proudly did lay
On a piece of concrete on that special day
Was a tribute to you and all who perished
Your memory will be forever cherished
Wet hair, wet coat, as I stood there thinking
Of you dear man, in the mud almost sinking
The sacrifice you made for me
I will make for you in Eternity
