Haiku
this ripe the
heart gives in
beneath a thumbnail’s touch—
eating strawberries
black
shadows on white
marbled walls—finches fighting
for holly berries
mid-May
blowing in
through open windows
shower of birch seeds
the
arc of conversation
falls as we fall
into each other
rough ridge
trail
descending from rock scrabble
blueberry thicket
after rain
surprise of blue skies
sudden flush of doves
still
reflective pond
a leap of song
all is disturbed
between cypress trees
the moon lights a path for all
who walk on water
without you in bed
I hear the walls relax
sleep impossible
I
believed I could
do otherwise until
the moment arrived
