Dan Hardison, US

Cinquain

sunlight
through the water
of a clear mountain stream
playing and dancing across rocks
below

from each
observation
to each new discovery
we eagerly await the next
aha

the calm
of the water,
the stillness of the day,
bringing uncluttered acceptance
of mind

darkness
and in time light
when hope outshines despair
with the dawning of a new day—
patience

goodbye
does not seem right
for death is not an end
go now in peace until we meet
again

Butterfly Cinquain

the road
makes its decline
twisting, turning, falling
down the mountain to the valley
below
when suddenly the road straightens
and there is gratitude
because you have
arrived
