Triology Of The Sea

Driftwood

Spaces between loving him
are expanses of lonely beach
driftwood left behind
like her heart
washed away from his.
Each night spaces stretch further
as the moon pulls the tide
into the receding sea.
She dreams when she wakes
his waves
will pick up her driftwood
and wash it to the shore
of loving him
once more—

He doesn't walk beside her any more
his footprints have blown away
with the sands of time.
At first hers pebbled slipped
jaywalked
dawdled
remembering Summers
when the sun rose
like a giant beach ball
in the playground of the sky—

Sea Shell

Waves beat the barren shore
pounding spits of swelling tears.
His purpose lost
in the horizons of her mind
she's flung aside his touch
like nets that cast to winds
of worked out time—

A sea shell washed up
on an empty shore
she faces the burning sun
submits to bleaching of her soul
to wait—

The sea will pick her up
churn and plunge her
into swirling depths
until its colours find her
once again
then slowly
softly
seep inside
her brittlene

But now they tread a line so straight
it stretches to the stairway of the stars
and the knot of love
once a full moon silver
has sunk
down the dark
deep recesses
of the sea—
