China
Village
Crocuses in Autumn
A Himalayan guesthouse
Jesse
China village
Pink
buds cover trees
Whitewashed house with red tiled roof
small yellow flowers
behind tall green bamboo fence
grandmother sits at front door.
Crocuses in
Autumn
Crocus heralds,
journeying in a strange land,
give ‘Good day’
to Autumn. Autumn,
not recognizing them,
breathes coldly on them.
They bow their heads,
think, longingly,
of home.
A
Himalayan Guesthouse
Some
rooms recall Buddhist temples;
you hear nothing but tinkling bells
or slowly twirling rattles.
Only now and then
you hear a sigh,
the last whisper
of souls that die.
Jesse
Under the bush,
against the fence,
a dark shadow curls.
He left it behind,
in case I need someone
to talk to in the morning.
