Sketchbook Patriot Writers

Dear Samantha and Karina,

Here is a poem that sums up much about what I feel about Patriotism. I hope it is helpful. Please let me know if I can help further with this project. I will be on vacation for a week starting tomorrow afternoon but if you leave me an email I will attend to it when I get back.

Best wishes with the project! It is a wonderful topic.

The Patriots

The aged hero lumbered forward,
his sailor hat askew.
He was determined in his mission
to rescue the red, white, and blue.
Tears trickled down his cheeks,
seeing its tattered and soiled state.
A young boy freed “Old Glory”
from beneath a rusted crate.
He held it up to his hero
who clutched it to his chest.
His grandson stood beside him
with his hand across his breast.
The flag lauded freedom for
which their son/father died.
Souls united in being American,
hearts filled with country pride.
