Couplets

Cold

The frigid bus on the frozen street
full of frozen people I'll never meet.
A saccharine smile on a frozen face
of an icy billboard is in its place.

Free Verse

Ray

He carries the sun. It fits
perfectly into a bowling
bag. Bringing solar power
everywhere. Sometimes
a bit too hot to handle.

Sprinting upstairs, he’ll shout
“I brought the sun with me today,
slung it right over my shoulder.”
He brings what everybody longs for
and makes me feel sizzling warm.

Tonight

Blankets too cold to touch.
Now I will curl like a fetus
gathering warmth into myself
hoping to awake new born.

Winter Watch

Tangled…one ragged
leaf clings to the bough.

Stopping to see
the shape of a snowflake.

All day my windows
chatter like nervous teeth.

More amazing than redwood forests...
your ice blue eyes.

Winter storm…headlights
beam at noon.

Came home just in time
for the first dizzy dance
of frosty flurries.

Snowflakes spin together in
joyful pirouette…a cool ballet.
