Ekphrastic Poem - Acrostic: The Red Shawl

Bernard Gieske, US - Poet

There is that scene in my mind’s eye
Half a century ago when my
Every heartbeat rang loud. I

Reeled in star-studded whirlpools of
Ethereal waters secluded in a shaded cove
Dancing around with my new-found love.

Seaweed entangled me in searching ecstasy.
Heartbeat to heartbeat you guided me
Along a new path through a labyrinthian sea.
What was it about you that kept encompassing me?
Love is just one life-long voyage of mystery.

The Red Shawl painting by US painter Timothy C. Tyler,  was published with the article, "The exploration of form", appearing in the September 2009 issue of American Art Collector magazine.   Web site: Timothy C. Tyler
