Pens & Plumes" would be modeled after the stars
along Hollywood Blvd. The names of poets and writers from San
Francisco, including Ina Coolbrith, Robert Frost, Jack London and our
contemporary poets and writers living and dead, would be inscribed in
the plumes along Columbus Avenue in North Beach. They would be made of a long lasting material (brass? copper?). We could get funding
from the Federal Government, State Government and private sponsors. I have a Directory of American Poets & Writers that, as a member, of
Poets & Writers, I along with Ferlinghetti, Hirschman, DiPrima, and
200 + San Franciscans are listed that we could draw from and use as a beginning. Mayor Newsom and the Board of Supervisors, including Aaron Peskin have shown an interest in the project. I personally have been promoting the concept, along with my son Dylan Thomas Hackett and others. In fact, over the years numerous San Franciscans have
endorsed the idea. The question now is, how best to move forward.
You advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you! Sincerely yours,

Philip Hackett, Poet/Organizer
