Celebrating Mother's Day May 9, 2010

Shopping Downtown Boston

When I was too little to stay home alone,
Mother took me on her shopping Downtown Boston.
If I was good–
and I was always good enough–
she bought me a half-and-half cookie.
It was the yin-yang of cookiedom:
Its face, half vanilla, half chocolate icing.
I would work the edges
until a quadda sized bite was left
to pop into my mouth-oven.
