Celebrating Mother's Day May 9, 2010

On Mother’s Day

Mother-child relationship is compulsive

Linked by umbilical cord, though severed.

Magnetic, her relationship is intuitive.

She nourishes as a bird

Feeds its young ones

Until the fledglings fly away.

As the grown-ups take leave

Mother groans but prepares for the next coming.

The hatchlings coil round their snake-mother

As the puppies and kittens and calves

Are always around their mother;

This is the ploy of Nature

To play with her world of creature.

Besides her primordial motherhood

Her feelings and emotions renewed

The human mother keeps her children to her breast

Affectionately, forever.

Original source of birth and strength,

Humans attribute motherhood to their country

Realize motherhood in divinity

They learn their language as the Mother-tongue;

Mother’s name to them is a song.

Mother is at the centre stage of creation

She dwells at the head of population.

We hail you Mother!

On you auspicious day together.
