Seasons Long

You are sunshine to my face.
It’s your warmth I covet most
while sleeping in the grass.
You are moonlight in my sleep.
How I love your satin dreams
while floating in your cotton fields.
You are promise in my life
the hopes and burning fires you torch in me.
You are spring and seasons long
where all begins and blossoms
true through you and me.

Light

  I am blind
Lend me your seeing
  I am dull
Lend me your brilliance
  I am slow
Lend me your speed
  I am heavy
Lighten my load
  I am listless
Lend me your energy
  I am night
Until the day breaks
  I am black
Without all your colors
  I am lonely
Without you shadowing me
  I am cold
I need your heat
  I am hungry
To partake of your garden
  I am amazed
With your magic displays
  I cannot hold
you in my hands;

but my mind’s eyes blaze with all your beauty.

A Double Bed

All made up
          sheets fresh
Quilted spread
          fluffy pillows
Love is like that
          all times
Dreamy pieces
          fresh and
          all made up
Before
          being slept in

***

Slipping in between
          warmth and
                    smooth embraces
Sowing seeds
          of dreams
Dirtying the sheets
          and
                    fluffing pillows

Love goes on ––– doubly made

Unfinished Symphony

Your soft whisper
          breezes across a window
                    of his fluted reed
He hears music
          your heart is playing
                    in the fields
                              of his dreams

Down a valley
          into the glen
                    along the stream
                              you both drift
                                        in exotic rhapsodies

Playing each other’s
          refrains
                    in unending
                              symphonies.

Today

I awoke in a stream of rays.
Laid my Pregnant Survivor’s Manual
on the edge of the rug,
                              gave it a quick tug.

At the other end
I placed my book of Vanished Species,
Then squatted in between,
                              gave myself a hug

And felt just like today.
