The Sky

While the ship is slowly approaching the land, the still sleepy island of Kyushu looms out of the white patches of fog. My first and long-awaited visit to Japan. I already picture myself walking, with joyful anticipation, down the streets of Hakata. Regretfully, my dreams will later be dashed. The maneuver has been changed, and instead of an 8 hour stay in the harbor, the unlucky one must be on a 6 hour watch. Glancing angrily at the sky, I catch sight of Orion, a brilliant constellation I have observed so many times during clear nights in my native country.

the sky of Hakata
as if in a mirror
the sky of Kotor
