Moving On

from a terra cotta site
aging years erupt with rage
to claim control
while ripening hearts fizzle
with Dr. Seuss’s double corolla
drinking green euphoria

Redheads perched in Maguera,
laced with Essen-carrot sensations,
their operons auto-racing in gigue activity,
circle in Baroque, a crazy, expansive dance.

Hunters pivot their swords keeping up the tempo
reeling in the fields finding garlands for mountain goats
pop-up characters bounce with alecto
laic in their dens of sheltered ears.

Only turtles drag in the sands
lured to cola regions
following the egg and ham calendar
in regular order

Petals float down the Rhine yertling aloha
the refrain frozen in Switzerland’s gossip cavities
I resign my bones to Verdi’s Aida
Take up my leato and emote a Honolula goodbye.

The Pondering of a Bat

How to know
the pondering of a bat
hanging upside down
his frown but a smile

How to know
the dreaming of a bat
abiding the dark cave all day
flying free in the darkness of night
images going blip in the dark

How to know
the seeing of a bat
when sounds are his mode
of traveling in the night
and catching prey without light

Searching for Desire

The moon floats in hope
high above the clouds
far from the stars of fire
no wonder the moon changes faces
searching for desire

New Beginnings

the clouds
dark in the horizon
prepare for departure
the day
morning fresh
invite us to join in

we learn our language
without dictionaries
through sight and sound
our own history
a repeating series
of understanding
with a background

What Is Time?

a second
and then another
not enough to dwell on
but hope is born

there comes a time
when eyes slam shut
time to sleep
then what is time
