Whistling Kettle

harborside tea—
a room borne to heirlooms
and summer light    /kk

cinnamon and spice—
the sound of children playing    /jd

whistling kettle—
fat old Balinese cat,
only one ear twitches    /kk

lemon slices—
two steaming porcelain cups
on a linen cloth    /jd

late night with Earl Grey—
claw-foot tub almost full   /kk

in my dreams
I captain the Frigate Tea Cup—
off to Ceylon    /jd
