The Kukai - a haiku contest, where each person submits a
haiku, and then, becomes a judge. When all the poems are
compiled in a list, the contestants comment, vote, and
give scores to poems of their choice. One cannot comment
on, nor vote for one’s own poem. At the end of the voting
process winners emerge, the selection based on votes by

How does summer vacation enter
the everyday conversation of the average Trini, when in
our part of the globe we do not experiences the seasons of
Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter? Well, the concept has
its own definition for the Caribbean. In T&T. ‘Summer
vacation’ is the longest school break for the year, and
it’s the fore runner to new beginnings for many. Eleven
to twelve year olds would have received their results of
SEA an entrance exam into secondary schools, they can now
exhale, and go to camps, malls, or be packed off on
overseas visits to friends and relatives where there are
real summer climes; or, play host to friends and
relatives from abroad who come to vacation with them.
