Brightly burning star fish...

Brightly burning star fish...
Do you wonder where you swim?
Wandering sky and ocean flying
floating now near shore line.
Many arms extended tugging
celestial weeds Irish moss.
Grasping glowing orange disc
climbing beds of coral coral.
Do you wonder where you swim
brightly burning star fish?

Noontime Perfumed

Noontime perfumed
berries and new grass.
Beneath honey locust
through hushed woods,
we found a spring.
My feet throb over
hard pebbles. Threading
soft water the sun
dresses us in golden
sequins.

Tonight

Tonight
Chimes tap against our windowpane.
This evening becomes starry sapphire
as sea gulls rise in flight over rooftops.
Winds wrapping around trees
tossing leaves.
The court yard is full of aromas
from dinnertime. Shadows growing longer
each minute. Lights go on and I
wait for you.

Amazing How

Amazing how
only last Thursday after
another morning of clichés
as freezing winds pushed
us along grey avenues…
you shouted my name
in the middle of Main Street
calling me poet and instantly
mountains of mediocrity were
melted by your smile.

Winds Toss Foliage in Air

Winds toss foliage in air.
Birds bend against frost
their wings catching the
last sunlight.
In cosmic dance snowflakes
light up evening. Diminutive
galaxies circling abandoned gardens.
We hunch our shoulders with winter.
Our shadows are long now.
