mouflon

the mouflon,
meandering the high desert
eating when he 's hungry
and sleeping when he wishes
with wisdom in his long whiskers
the sure footed old mountain goat
a true Zen master

money is cement

life in the coffee land,
training the trees
first rain brings
short lived blossoms
fragrance so fleeting
faint scent of lemon
in the snowy white blossoms
fields covered, in the "first round"
soon to be ripe red cherries
with two beans inside....
to be separated and sun dried
rare precious kona, golden roasted
morning cuppa coffee
how many beans
in a starbucks cup
that costs a gallon of gas?
old ways gone; developer's greed
develops into downfall
players in money
stop the freedom of Amerika
lady terrorist caught
was educated in our country
the woman most wanted
plans our death...
land no longer grows
the life around the table
family and friends
coffee and the words of a poem
a protest to the rich man's
cement and pools, now stagnant
growing the west Nile virus.
Why does it say " In God We Trust"
on the dollar bill?

rain

rainy and cold
under the covers
kind of day
the storm
that sat windward
has now soaked
the leeward side of the island
elephant grass
dry and golden brown
damped down
now a room with a view
of the shoreline...
but the windows
keep me inside
disconnect me
from the grey day
the waves of rain
so cloudy
in my brain

The Lady and the Goddess

traded the lady
for the goddess
of the volcano
lady day still rules
evening song/fire dance
in the shadows
of a cool night
scent of gardenias
from her hair
