In the present
Alive
A survivor of childhood
Beatings
Prison drugs
Now in the present you accept
The daily grind
You’re among the daily employee
Who go to work drink coffee
Take cigarette breaks
Gossip during the breaks
Try to make the day go faster
The day doesn’t go faster
And you know but you try anyway
And you arrive home
And hug your boys
And you realize
This is your greatness
