Perseverance

The shift
of desert sand,
wind-sculpted into dunes

we are called to climb them, footsteps
sinking.

Returning to Port

adrift
in the world's sea,
cut off from the anchors
of family, friends
vagabond
winds change

Thief

red yarn
grandmother lost,
tangled behind our couch

the cat in the kitchen, cleaning
her paws
