Strange Encounter

Do you
or do you not
want to be with me? She
gives me a funny look and walks
away.

Slipping in a Quick Lunch

Near work
a new noodle
stall has opened up shop,
so I slip on over to have
a slurp
and discover that my colleagues
are at the bottom of
their bowls and set
to burp.

Hedging My Bets

If I
could do it all
over again, I would
be a kappa and choose not to
be born.

A Learning Curve

My son
has turned sixteen
and struggles with Sex Ed,
where the clinical approach leaves
him cold.

Too Bad It’s Not My Birthday

Below
my dark window
a group of Chinese girls
sings happy birthday beautifully
off key.

A Private Glen

In there
the dappled light
plays tricks with eye and heart
’til one thinks he knows the secret
therein.

Descent

Midnight
deepens darkness,
and I go spelunking
in the caverns of emptiness
within.
