Seasons

birds flying south—
autumn wind blows
the last cloud

along the garden edge
potatoes and pumpkins

Thanksgiving feast—
rain and yellow leaves
falling together

an old chimney
smokes to the morning chill

autumn's end—
the city turns gray
under thick clouds

first light of dawn
scent of winter violets

crisp morning air—
a cat walks secretly
on frosty ground

withered garden
only shades of brown

kids gone—
water from icicles
hits the tin bucket

under the full moon
snow woman

new year's eve—
a gust from the canyon
sweeps the city

empty feeder
cold sparrows

plum buds—
a baby wrapped tightly
in a blanket

desert rain
tadpoles of toads

winding path—
spring grass spreads
along the river

into the sky's blue—
green, yellow and red kites

the blazing sun—
the ice in a glass
clinks

around & around my yard
fireflies carry the stars

white canvas—
summer rain clears the air
for the fireworks

carried by twilight
cicada's song
