Fantasy

Both of you
Full of Fire, love
And passion
For the other
Somehow you took
Different directions
You never stopped
Dreaming her
Your Fantasy woman
Your fantasy wife
Through time
Across miles
In Your yearning
You spun a web
Of gossamer thread
Casting loose ends
That finally caught
Her mind and heart
Pulling her to
Your world
Now she stands
Before you
With all the Love
All the Passion
Her beauty still
Lit by her own Fire
Fear smothers your desire
Your guts turn to ice
You turn and run
Back to your
Lukewarm life
As she stands there
Hollow, her heart
Bleeding in her hands
she had always
Wondered if
You would ever
Have the courage
To make her your Wife

Abyss? Vortex?

Now in these “Golden Years”
I look at what I thought
Would be
And all I can feel or see
Is this abyss or vortex
Of emptiness created
By longing.
I remember the
Term “filled with
Longing.”
There is
nothing filling about it.
Longing is an emptiness
That corrodes the soul
And turns the heart
Into a vortex of deep
Pulsing wounded red
So dark it seems black
And I know why old\people
live in remembrance
of lost loves
and spend their days
in reminiscence
of twinkling eyes
and smiles
a knock on the door
spinning across the floor
in an embrace of
dance and love
remembering
a first kiss
it keeps them
from falling
into the abyss
