We bring gifts on
Christmas Day
to celebrate our joy each year.
Your smile of cheer and handshake,
a warm welcome at our front door.
Once others followed a bright star—
Behold! the King of Kings is born.

A Plea
Distant stars sprawled on black
velvet—
the Milky Way, wondrous bright path.
As autumn fades to winter
your warm embrace shuts out the cold.
Precious dear, I love your difference—
ignore jealous, hateful words.
