to pick yellow daisies

states of emotion
fields of daisies
occur

clouds
crossing over
the  borders
of the Sabine River

dozing
and waking
the landscape
still,
the same


the sun
moves
into
the shade

only the gate
still remains 
in the field

an army jeep
left
at the junkyard

a paper sign
'hanged' 
on a tree

two police cars--
9 people  stand
on the side
of the road
hands behind
their backs
cuffed ---
the
beginning
of
understanding
