The editors of
Sketchbook invite all readers to participate
in the haiku kukai on the "cold night" or "night chill" poems
for October. The twenty-three poems entered in the contest are numbered and printed without author names.
A kukai is an
anonymous vote by all eligible voters to determine which poems the haiku
readers view as the most significant poems in the group—in
this case the "cold night" or "night chill" haiku.
Voters should select
the poems which represent the best haiku written with the kigo
"cold night" or "night chill". The exact kigo words should
appear in the haiku.
Read the poems and
enjoy them. Then take time to send the editors your vote. Voting
directions appear below the haiku.
