Blue Bells
so long ago . .
.
I can see
my sister and I
dancing barefoot
in the park
the bluebells
tickling our toes

popsicle toes
remembering cold nights
with my sister - her hogging
the quilt, wearing socks
to bed while I heated up
through anger
wearing socks to bed!
I was aghast at the very thought,
preferring the cold crisp feel
to starched sheets - her feet
wandered as she sprawled
by morning she and I
having stopped speaking
by midnight were snuggled
nose to nose our
anger forgotten
I smile now
thinking about those times
while my fingers are occupied
pulling socks onto my feet
beneath flannel sheets at bedtime

nature's palette paints
jungle blooms iridescent
each colour accents
the wonders found beneath
the evening sky
the nighttime air
is rich with exotic scents
as orchids bloom
each petal's loving caress
dust under moonlight
