tissue black, brown or white
each equal in the creator's sight
whatever shaded skin-
just a covering, layered, thin

purlY an accident of birth
not a value of worth
customs, culture...our true divide
ignorance...its willing guide

tates, mores, attitudes
provoke actions, rude or crude,
manners, and traditional ties
the crux upon which difference lies

repercussions backlash we reap

if our thinking stays skin deep
