White Bird
Father, thatch a nest
in the east
hatch a white bird
put an olive branch
in its golden beak
send it forth
to and fro
over the earth,
north, south,
east, west
peace flowing
from its shining wings
onto every tent,
every cardboard shack,
every mansion.
Let all the people
come forth singing,
Peace, peace,
let there be peace.
